Spikey's story is good in that respect because he's included enough detail to give one a definite mental image of the action, but he's left some things in mystery, letting the reader's imagination fill in whatever they'd like. For example, we don't know the names of the characters, or details of what they look like. That's excellent, you can customize it, so to speak.
